Our Vision is the long-term conservation of the Philippines’ native and endemic wildlife and natural habitats for the benefit of future generations of all peoples who may inhabit and share the natural resources of the country.


1st Gawad Tugas Award


Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. received the 1st Gawad Tugas Award for Biodiversity Conservation and Management from Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region-7 last 29 July 2015 in Marcelo Fernan Media Center, Sodlon, Lahug, Cebu City. The Gawad Tugas Award aims to recognize institutions that have made significant and outstanding contribution in the protection, conservation and management of our environment and natural resources.

A total of 16 awardees were selected based on the following criteria: 1) advancement, support and innovations on the country’s environmental mandate, vision, goals and policy statements; 2) dedication and demonstration of good environmental and sustainability practices beyond normal responsibilities and functions; 3) environmental leadership as a role model for others to emulate or provide good examples and 4) implementation in the last 12 months.

The 9-member 1st Gawad Tugas Committee selected eight categories: biodiversity conservation and management; patent issuance; forest protection and management; protected area management; responsible mining; solid waste management; national greening program and adopt-an-estero/water body program. 

We thank DENR REGION 7 for recognizing PBCFI’s biodiversity conservation efforts in the region most especially to Regional Director Isabelo Montejo; MGB 7 Regional Director Loreto Alburo; EMB 7 Regional Director William Cuñado, ERDB-BCWERC Head Dr. Alicia Lustica, Asst. Regional Director for Management Service Eduardo M. Inting and to the rest of DENR Region -7. Our heartfelt thanks also to former DENR Region 7 RTD for PAWCZMS Al Orolfo - you made this all possible.
